I have this terrible habit of looking at my Hotel Tonight app every other hour of every single day (not exaggerating at all) and saw that I could stay at The D for $20+tax+resort fee on a Thursday night SO I did. It's in Downtown Las Vegas and located off of Fremont and 4th Street.
The casino is fairly small and packed. The line wasn't long at check in and went smooth. The front desk agent offered a corner king room for an additional $10 but I snuck in there that she could do it for free and handed her my business card. Hospitality goes a long way :)
Decently sized rooms. I'm sure the standard king rooms aren't that much smaller than these. These are simply on the corner and provide slightly larger square footage.
Nothing fancy about the bathroom.
I will say that all, yes all, of their paintings on the wall in the room as well as throughout the hallways on the floors and in the casino, are pretty cool.
My room number.
I like all of the red.
This is on the downtown strip, where everyone walks.
Downtown is a hit or miss and people either love it or hate it. I personally don't care for the crowd. I think most like it because there's inexpensive things to do, places to stay and local spots. I personally didn't care to stay in the center of downtown.
When the bar is packed, they all toss bottles in the air and do their tricks.
Entertaining.
Photo of their front desk. It's located in an odd location and stuff in the center of the casino. Not the best and it seemed like it would be a disaster when there's a bulk arrival.
This is pretty fun and it's located in the upstairs of the D.
I found the derby races and you play with quarters!
Now, this was fun and I'd visit again.
Their pillows were ridiculously small and uncomfortable because of the size.
They need to upgrade.
View at night from my room.
It was loud with music up until midnight or so. It would only get annoying if you were trying to sleep. I wasn't so it didn't bother me. I don't know if you can hear it if you're on the opposite side of the hotel but the music is pretty loud so I'd imagine you'd be able to hear it wherever.
My view at 8:30am. I had to work at 11am so I left at 8:30am in order to be home by 9am to feed Big And and get ready for work.
If people were in town and they wanted to stay in downtown, I may suggest the D but I'd like to try other hotels in the downtown area to see how they compare first, before recommending the D. It's definitely a good location if you want to walk to bars and places to eat.
Just depends on what you're agenda is.
